Re: L-1 Visa application with criminal record

Just an FYI, the US justice system is less stern words and more police brutality so you might try to keep your pants on if you get the visa. Unless you enjoy being on a sex offender register that is.

Multiple H1-Bs at one time - work before approval?

A friend of mine is interested in setting up a start-up. I'm also interested in doing some work for the company. I'm on an H-1B right now for a full time job. I was looking into various ways to work...

Re: Third Country National H1-B stamping - Scandanavia?

Update 2: went to Copenhagen and absolutely loved the place. The embassy was very fast and efficient and got me the visa within the week I was there. My H-1B visa stamping was very quick btw. They...

Re: Third Country National H1-B stamping - Scandanavia?

Just an update: went for my visa stamping in Copenhagen. Everyone was very nice and it didn't take very long at all (about 50 minutes for the wait and interview).

My friends didn't end up...

Re: Third Country National H1-B stamping - Scandanavia?

Or Canada? Maybe I should go to Canada?

Does anyone know the quickest embassy in Canada? Or globally really (except the UK?)

Third Country National H1-B stamping - Scandanavia?

Hi,

I am currently living in the US on F1 OPT and as of Oct 1 an H1-B. I studied in the US (if that makes a difference). I would like to leave the US and get my visa stamped. I am from the UK but...

Re: Former F1 visa holders being flagged for secondary inspection by immigration?

I don't have exact experience but I graduated in 2013 (and went on to OPT). We received an email just before I graduated from the school's international office saying that they had received reports...

Re: H1B Quota discussions and opinions

But 195k is just a number plucked out of the air. Why 195k? Why not 300k? Why not unlimited? There is no evidence that 195k is even needed. The immigration reform bill increased the limit to 110k and...

Re: H1B Quota discussions and opinions

Disagree. Once they receive their green cards, they can compete for much higher wages. As far as I can tell, plenty of arranged (and un-arranged) marriages happening for Infosys H1-Bs.

Re: H1B Quota discussions and opinions

You don't need people lobbying FOR restrictions, just a lack of people lobbying against. The (currently dead) immigration reform bill targeted Indian outsourcing firms. H1-B dependent companies were...

Re: What happens in the case of incomplete H1-B visa app?

Just in the interests of completeness, my H1-B application was approved. No transcript necessary. Thanks to all for the advice and comfort.

Re: What happens in the case of incomplete H1-B visa app?

Thanks guys! I feel very relieved.

:p You are right! The category is Legal Consultant. I don't need to have a law license (though I do have one). Lawyer was just a generic term.

The...

Re: Help on getting a H1B job

Why not just work for an international employer and then get a transfer (L-1)? It's safer than applying through the H1B lottery!

Re: What happens in the case of incomplete H1-B visa app?

Fair enough! It's more that I don't really think my case is marginal or tricky. I am applying with a US law degree for a job as a lawyer. It's not a complicated line to draw from law...

What happens in the case of incomplete H1-B visa app?

Sorry for clogging up the forum with questions but I just got selected in the lottery and am beginning to realize that the firm's immigration lawyer is pretty crap. It's a long story but she sent in...

H1-B Visa Lottery - any way to improve odds?

I'm sure this will get shot down as a stupid question but I remember reading a thread once saying that the green card lottery was not as random as you would think and that a good lawyer could improve...

Just adding onto this - is there any rule against asking an employer to pay for your OPT application fee? It's $500!

Marriage and Immigration...split from the 'please help' thread in the Imm forum

I always think it's a bit strange when people elevate marriage to something magical and special... when they already have kids outside of marriage.

Re: Yank in UK thinking of moving back to US w/family

The most shocking thing on this thread is eric_dad's high mortgage! In the North West? Over $1000 for a mortgage? My parents live in detached house in Cheshire and pay under 250 quid!
