I am a UK citizen, married to a US citizen and we have three children with dual nationality. My wife and I filed an I-130 petition as there was a good chance that she was going to get a good job in...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

Ps - the NHS is sustainable, but only if the gov supports it rather than try to destroy it.

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

Thanks bomjeito. That website is really helpful! I think we'll be ok on wife's wage. Especially as we never go out and tend to do family outings that don't require spending a lot of money. It's just...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

In Miami. Job is on Key Biscayne, but we'd rent somewhere on mainland. No schools, no child care.
We like comfort, but also know how to get a deal and what's worth paying more for and what is...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

That's all very helpful and helps us think long and hard about the move...
So the next question would be whether the wage really would mean a change in standards...
What would be an average wage, a...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

It is good - if there's a job!

We had actually envisaged me staying home with the children as we both share child care now and have no child care costs in the UK. However, my job could pay for...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

Rene,
What is "good health insurance"? That sounds really good, but do you have to pay something per month, like deducted from your monthly wage, or is it all covered by your company?

Can you...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

It's a lot to take in. Without giving all the specifics - the job comes with a monthly "cost of living" stipend in addition to the base wage. We would most definitely rent and a only looking to rent...

Re: private health insurance - family of 5

Dear god...I'm so sorry. When I read he broke his collar bone, I think, "Aw what a shame, poor boy". When I see how much it cost, that's when I want to cry for you! May I ask what kind of plan it...

Absolutely taking all that on board. My wife is less keen to return because of this one point...

The job comes with a very good wage, more than double what we both earn here. It's a very hard job...

Hi there,
We're preparing the move to the states (Miami) and my wife's job doesn't come with health insurance (it's rather complicated - the recruitment agency is in the UK, but needed someone with...

Re: Wife returning to UK after 1-year absence - 2-year spouse visa still valid

Thanks for that. I'll try over there. Immigration is always as clear as mud, but others' experiences can help give an idea.
Cheers!

Wife returning to UK after 1-year absence - 2-year spouse visa still valid

Hello,
I've posted in a different forum about getting a visa for the States, but what I'd like to know is whether we can return to the UK if we want to after one year.

My wife is a US citizen and...

Re: US (UK resident) wife got job in USA - how can I move with her and our 3 children

It was as if the job was written for my wife - which is why we've decided to go. Otherwise, we'd stay here where we're perfectly happy. The wage would be more than double what we earn together now,...

Re: US (UK resident) wife got job in USA - how can I move with her and our 3 children

Thanks. I think a b2 would be hard to get since they'd probably think it was for immigration anyway. Plus, if the contract does get extended or we find that we want to stay in the end it'll be easier...

We file in London, but HOW?
What is the process??? They're so vague on the website.
Does my wife Need to file the I-130 in person or can it be sent? Do they keep her passport during this time...

Re: US (UK resident) wife got job in USA - how can I move with her and our 3 children

Thanks for your reply. We both find it hard to believe that we could be separated if we're married with dependants.

Does the US visa system not have a premium service like here in the UK? If we...
