Thanks Sancho, that's really helpful. I should highlight that I am going early in the year, still in the winter, so I don't know how much of an effect this will have on the overall experience....

"Language Vampires"? hahaha, you can always trust the Irish to provide the perfect name. I have tried to adopt the tactic of just replying to their English in German, which has brought mixed results...
