In Sydney you'll be earning as a RN8.

I have never worked in the private but I think the rates are similar.

Your best bet is to gain some experienced before coming over here. I can only speak for NSW, but in order to do some agency work you need at least 1 year of nursing under your belt.

Cost of living in Sydney is high. As a full time year 8 out in the public you can clear between $2500 and $2800 a fortnight, including at least one weekend.

Eddie007 is right, nursing is nursing. However I have to agree with megancphillips, I would never consider going back to the UK to work.
