Re: Considering applying for F-1: currently frequently using VWP

That's good to know, thanks crg. How do you think playing poker would be viewed on F1? If not favourably, the slightly crazy thing is that I'm sure students are allowed to gamble when on F1 and in...

Re: Considering applying for F-1: currently frequently using VWP

Tax will be an issue if I spend 6+ months, unfortunately, but it's a price I'm willing to pay.

Re: Considering applying for F-1: currently frequently using VWP

When at secondary, I always tell them I am a poker player and that's why I'm coming to the US. I avoid using the word 'professional', but it may have slipped out once or twice.
A couple of times...

Considering applying for F-1: currently frequently using VWP

Slightly odd case.

I'm a full-time professional poker player who travels to Las Vegas for up to 6 months a year (usually through two 90 day trips) under the VWP. I love being in Las Vegas and...

Flight booked to Bali! Heading out there this week. Just for 4 or 5 weeks this time, but hoping I can find a home away from home and I come back often :)

Davita, if you're around, it would be...

Many thanks once again Davita. The next thing seems to be figuring out when I'm going to fly out there! I will keep you updated. And I'm probably going to have some more questions at some point if...

Re: Where to live in Indonesia?

This is golden, thanks Davita.

Regarding Las Vegas, I do actually spend about 5 months of the year there and absolutely love it :) For visa/tax reasons I unfortunately can't spend much longer. ...

Re: Where to live in Indonesia?

Wow, thanks Davita. Some interesting and useful stuff there.

How do you recommend I go about looking for a villa? (I'm ok with not having an apartment) Is it cheaper sorting it out once I get out...

Re: Where to live in Indonesia?

Haha, thanks HK. I thought Bali would be suggested :) Any suggestions on how I go about finding an apartment? The mountains won't be too far from the beach and social scene will it?

Yeah, I know...

Re: Bike/Moped long term rental or purchase for UK citizen

Cheers Bob.

Based on this website (http://www.ehow.com/facts_7453891_nevada-law-50cc-scooter.html) and from reading around, it seems like I don't need to register it or hold insurance.

My main...

Re: Bike/Moped long term rental or purchase for UK citizen

Thanks Tim. My plan is to avoid the summer months in LV, so hopefully that won't be a problem.

If I can't get anything more powerful than a 50cc without entangling myself in reams of red tape, I...

Re: Bike/Moped long term rental or purchase for UK citizen

Thanks FB, although apparently the Deuce bus does not cut it in LV, and it's much better to have your own vehicle.
