Re: To self-pack or not to self-pack?

Let them self pack the furniture (all they'll do is wrap it in parcel paper anyway, which is not exactly 'protective'). For your boxed items, do not under any circumstances let them pack it for you....

Re: K1 medical worries

I think a lawyer is a good idea, even if it just serves to put your mind at rest. J Craig Fong is frequently recommended on here, and he has experience with LGBT immigration. You may wish to consult...

Re: K1 medical worries

Hey OP, I was in a very similar situation to you, except I moved to Canada.

You must declare your previous names on the application. They won't care. Bear in mind they also ask for previous names...

Re: PSS Removals

Most of my fragile items weren't sentimental so I packed to be efficient (boxes as heavy as possible) on the assumption that some wouldn't make it.

All I can advise is that there really isn't such...

Re: Got some study to do..IELTS

As a data point, I have an advanced degree in linguistics and I only barely passed the IELTS test. 9.0 for speaking and listening and (I think) 6.5 and 7.0 for writing and reading. I only did the...

Re: PSS Removals

I used PSS last year. It was interesting.

The estimator arrived at my house and I indicated what I was sending. He tapped all the items into his phone and automatically generated a quote. He...

Re: Air freight - goods to follow

Can you check it?

I checked my iMac when I moved for the same reasons as you. Was in its retail box, a layer of bubble wrap, and then inside a suitcase.

Re: I-94 at Land Border, then Flying

That would be my guess as well.

As for why, I have four trips scheduled to the US within the next few months and they'll be split between air and land crossings. I want to make sure I do...

Re: I-94 at Land Border, then Flying

Sure, but what if I'm given a 90-day I-94?

I-94 at Land Border, then Flying

I'm a UK citizen Canadian PR. I'll soon be making my first land entry into the USA.

IIRC, I'll receive a paper I-94 and that'll be good for multiple entries into and out of the USA within its...

Re: BSF186 – Personal Effects Accounting Document

No, I just grouped it as 'Clothes'.

You can be very general with your groupings. I did list high-value electronics and their serial numbers individually though.

Re: BSF186 – Personal Effects Accounting Document

I landed as PR with two forms: one for goods accompanying and one for goods to follow.

The goods accompanying form was completely ignored. Anecdotally I hear this is the case most of the time. But...

Re: Open University - Social Work - Toronto

No idea about social work specifically, but my academic OU degree was accepted by WES. I've never had any instances where my OU degree has been questioned.

Your issue won't really be 'Will they...

Re: COPR/PPR Address

Literally a few days, but this was in the summer and my application was selected for interview, which may have changed things.

Adding PR Card to MyCIC

I landed at YYZ last week and gave my address to the CBSA officer.

When I arrived at my temporary rented apartment, the landlord told me I've been moved to another unit as the one I was supposed...

Re: COPR/PPR Address

I sent everything to the Canadian High Commission and not VFS Global. Got the COPR within a few days.

VFS is the company that handles visa issuance for visa-required nationals, I believe.

Re: Iceland Air

You'd stay outside Schengen with a connection like that.

No immigration and no customs, although you could go inside Schengen if you wanted to (to access the lounge, for example) or avoid the...

Re: IEC 2017

I'm stuck in an endless loop with the IEC application.

I sign in with my GCKey, then end up back on the immigration landing page. When I go to 'My Account', I have to sign in again and then wind...

Re: IEC 2017

Thank you.

I've just completed the Come to Canada wizard but it won't let me continue as the pools are closed. Is there a workaround to submit for 2017 or should I just wait for that to resolve...

Quick question: Am I right in thinking Canada doesn't have any issues with 'dual intent' that the US does? If I, for example, apply for the IEC and Express Entry at the same time, would showing...

Re: Now its School Bathrooms

Agreed.

The funny thing about gender is that it's an incredibly weird concept. People just DO it, without thinking about it. And it's one of the few things that massively dominates our lives, yet...

I agree with what's been said, although maybe not as harshly.

You mean well, but she's an adult and she is free to make the choices she wants to make, whether you agree with them or not. If she...
