Re: b2 visa for cohabiting partner

You should not need to demonstrate any ties to the home country for an H-4.

It is in a more general sense, of whether the marriage + legitimacy of application + no prior troubles with immigration...

Re: b2 visa for cohabiting partner

On the "guarantees success" part, there has recently been a discussion on this forum and according to Sylvia, who is also a very respected expert, an F-2 applicant can get a 214(b) denial even with...

Re: B-2 Admission: Has anyone seen less than 6 months?

My understanding is that 6 months is not just a standard B-2 period, but a minimum period, unless a shorter period is approved by a supervisor. It is in this sense it can be called "standard".

For...

Re: B-2 Admission: Has anyone seen less than 6 months?

Shouldn't happen and looks like didn't happen. No one posted the affirmative statement like: "Yes, it happened with me. Or, I know for sure about the case when someone was admitted as a B-2 AND for...

Re: B-2 Admission: Has anyone seen less than 6 months?

So, if they want to give you a shorter term, they write "B-1" on I-94, even when the purpose of the visit should warrant B-2. This is understandable, because for B-1 the admission time is totally up...

Re: conference visa

Well, B-1/B-2 may be a dual visa (the visitor's visa is indeed stamped as B-1/B-2) however, being admitted as a B-1 and being admitted as a B-2 is not the same thing. The most obvious difference is...

Re: Old J-1 to H1-B

The web-page quoted by LucyMO does not give a conclusive answer, in my opinion, to whether the OP's 2 year resident's requirement has been fulfilled or not.

This is what the web-site says:...

Re: B-2 Admission: Has anyone seen less than 6 months?

Was she given a visa for 1 month in London? This is entirely different thing from the time she is allowed to stay in the US given to her at the port of entry. The topic here is B-2 admission, not B-2...

Re: F1Visa and F2-same time?or not?

I would like to add to what Ingo just said, and please correct me if I am mistaken, that 214(b) (proof of lack of immigration intent) does not apply to F-2. F-1 is of course a different matter, but...

Ingo, Sylvia, Josef, or others,

May I ask you opinion on the following situation? An F-1 student in legal status (DS) wants to get married with
a girl who is in the US legally on B-1/B-2 or visa...
