Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting

If you can find a 3 bed for $1500 per month I would guarantee its somewhere you wouldn't want to live. Both geographically and accommodation wise.

$1500 is the going rate for a decent 1 bed in a...

Re: Escape from Tom Windsor!!

St. Helena are recruiting once more. Applications in by July 20something.

I must admit, they haven't sold it to me.

Depends how bad you want...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Mod plod, do yourself a favour and politely ask them why there was such a delay and no communication.

If they didn't want you before, but are interested now ask them what's changed their thinking?...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Hi Golfer - good to see you got your priorities in order.

BA do direct flights you won't get much change from a grand for a return ticket.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

My guess was that 'Baz' was somewhere near the bottom of the rung and was not there too long to know this case was not based on 'gossip and rumours'.
The Dept Comissioner was charged but aquitted....

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

I'm sure their response will be a good indication of how desperate they are to get the relevant people in the right positions.

I must admit, starting on 1st Feb is not a lot of time to get your...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Nail on head YN.
Think of it this way: Cayman will still be there in 10 years time. You'll only have 1 child of schooling age. You could go then, supplement your pension with a salary from the...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

I have a friend there with one child who is on the top rate constable pay. They find it hard to make ends meet sending that one child to school.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

1) how old are the kids? Are they all at schooling age? A decent school will set you back some.
2) What work does your misses do?...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Just be aware that there is no PACE. I like PACE, PACE is black and white.
You know where you stand with PACE, even though you think it's a pain in the A*&%. All you got to do is follow it.

Would love to see the stats of the 50 selected, how many are still there after 12 months...

Come to think of it, wonder how many are still there from the recruitment campaign of Summer 2010...?

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Mick,
I recently read this article:
http://http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11260449
And noticed that West Mercia will be looking to loose 300 posts, 100 of them officers.
I'm not sure once you left...

Interesting point made there. I notice they didn't poo poo the site and the comments made previously by declaring it was all total nonsense.

No, instead they say it's 'changed in the last year'.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

Think I may know the reason behind this.
They only recruited as recently as 2010, and now they’re wanting a further 50
There’s been a high turnover of staff, esp overseas officers.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

SFBR, the health insurance should be included in your package, as well as dental. That's one less thing to worry about.

With house prices you're screwed either way. If you sell up completely and...

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Vacancies

ModPlod I can't convince you otherwise, sorry.

The housing allowance amounts to about $250. But a "cheap" rental will cost you $1200 for a 1 bed apt.

SFBR - judging by the comment you made (highlighted) it appears you have at least some degree of care and professionalism about your role.
The good news is, policing in Cayman hasn't lost its way....
