Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

Told them I wasn't even coming to the London interview. Nail in the coffin from them was the fact they didn't even try to say it would be enough to live on, just that it was competitive.

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

I must be an inbetweener then. Not fresh-faced enough to be on the cover of the magazine, but not wrinkly enough to be dye-in-the-wool haggard. It does appear that schools out in UAE have a high...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

Yep, it's down in the fine print. It's because the Govt owns equity in the house, so we can't make money after they have helped us buy it. We could always sell, but then we would be in greater...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

I doubt it, we would be looking to have a second child and she stay at home as we couldn't afford the childcare. All the teachers must be single then at the school, when kids get to school age, the...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

We cannot rent out our house as we've had to do the Government scheme to help us buy our first home. The school is Dubai British School in Springs 3. I have 6 years exp of teaching Physics and Maths....

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

It is AED14,000 after a AED90k housing allowance. 90k doesn't get you very much except a 2-bed apartment. I have a 3-bed house here in UK.
Our nipper is not 1 yet, so schooling isn't a consideration...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

There must be lots of people out there living on this level of income and having a good enough time of it? Is it just going to be a bust with AED14,000 per month to live off? Are we just going to...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

My god, good to hear from you...despite you being on my feed on Facebook. I did say this in the initial conversation with the school. I will be fine over there, just concerned the Mrs will make my...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

Dir was meant to mean Dirhams. I'll start to use the more accepted AED prefix from now on.
Is 14k p/m enough to survive on with a little one and wife? Or would we rely on Mrs getting a job? Nothing...

Re: Areas to live (Dubai)

Areas to live (Dubai)

I'm back after many years away from getting out of the Saudi Sand Pit. I'm looking at a school in Dubai and the package I've been preliminarily given seems far too low.

I know of housing agonies...

As part of background checks I apparently am in need of a letter of good conduct to say that I have not been up to/caught doing anything haram here in the magic kingdom. I was wondering has anybody...

Re: Civil Engineer in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia

This is going to sound stupid but I am going to ask it anyway. When you say your salary is inclusive of everything else such as accommodation, are you saying your Sar30k per month has to cover your...

Re: English Teacher Required

14euro an hour net?! You will do well to find any decent teachers paying pittance like that. Going rate is more than double that by far.

Re: Teaching in Abu Dhabi
