My best bet would be to do some research on the cities, larger towns in Nova Scotia for jobs then concentrate your search on that area, we live in Cole Harbour about 6 km from Halifax and we love it...

if it is still cold (which it probably will be) you could go ice skating on one of the lakes in Dartmouth.... or cross country skiing in Shubie Park... always nice around that area....

Okay we have lived in Nova Scotia now for 1 year and a half and we love it... We rented in downtown Dartmouth and yes it can be a bit shady, but we like the Dartmouth side for the recreational things...
