Parent sponsorship

Hi, all,

I have a query about parent sponsorship. Myself and my wife lived in Ontario from 2008-2011, then came back in September of 2012 to settle permanently. We initially returned on an...

Permanent Residence Application

Hi, all,

It's been a while since I posted - myself, my wife and little boy returned to Canada last year on TWPs, and are now applying for PR. I have a quick question regarding our son and the...

Hi, everyone.

My wife and I recently arrived back in Canada on 2-year TWPs, her as an ICT, me on a SOWP. We want to get the ball rolling for PR asap, and plan to apply under the FSW with arranged...

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Oh, I'm relaxed about the whole criminal inadmissibility thing, I understand that going through a red isn't a problem in that regard, I just wanted to know if I am expected to declare it.

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Well, admitting the offence and receiving the fine and points would count as a conviction, wouldn't it?

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Thanks, Former Lancastrain. Just another further question - when answering the question "Have you ever committed, been arrested for, been charged with or convicted of any criminal offence in any...

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Yeah, we lived there before. I always used to find that the near misses seemed to come with streetcars, especially on Spadina. Would always see people sprinting across the road trying to beat the...

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Fortunately for the people of Saskatchewan we're heading to Toronto (probably fortunate for the people of Toronto, too, since we're not likely to bother with a car since we'll be living downtown and...

Re: "Criminal Inadmissibility"

Lol, I keep telling myself that. I found that ever since I became a stay at home parent last year, I tend to let things settle in my mind a lot more, especially given that my son is about as well...

"Criminal Inadmissibility"

Hi, again! My family and I are currently going through the final stages in preparation for our move to Toronto, and a potential spanner has reared it's ugly head and perhaps thrown itself in the...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

I get you - so an advanced opinion is basically a mock exam. You might meet the criteria with the person reviewing it, but ultimately it doesn't mean anything, it's the border officer on the day who...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Yes, an immigration lawyer will be submitting the applications. This may be something I've misunderstood, but my impression was that they would apply for an advanced opinion on our behalf and get us...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Yep, meaning we have to wait until the end of the month to apply. That said, with no requirement for an LMO, how much would that set us back, time-wise? I think I read that advanced opinions for...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Yes. Sorry, think I was confusing people. My wife's official contract with her employer is open-ended, given that the position she is filling will continue to exist whether she is in it or not (so...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Hmmm, not sure about what they are submitting. I know they are applying for a three year LMO, although the job itself is ongoing, i.e if at the end of the three years they couldn't get another LMO...

Hi, Siphorous, FL,

Just spoke to the wife, who had just gotten off the phone to the immigration lawyers. Confirmed that her contract offer is open-ended, and as such they will be getting an LMO...

Re: Questions/clarity on TWPs and LMOs

Hi, Siphorous. My wife has a phone call with her company's immigration lawyers this afternoon. Hopefully we get some clarity at that point :)
