I stand corrected .....
NJ does have a way around the SSN issue to register the vehicle with 6 points of ID. However good luck finding a dealer that is willing to register using this method! NJ DMV...

It's part of the Patriot Act. If you want to own a car you have you register it. In order to register it you need a SSN.

Sorry one more point. Even if you buy a used car you will need a SSN to register it in NJ.

Some facts about SSN. You need this regardless where you buy your car from. The issue is the registration of the vehicle in NJ requires you not only to have a SSN but also a NJ driver's license. ...
