Failing that, maybe look on Trademe for a flat/house share? That's a cheap option as you could probably share for around $150-200 a week all in.

Do try Trade Me u can also get private rentals....

Easy areas for the city and childcare a plenty are Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Western Springs, Westmere. You would be looking at a 20 min run 10 with no traffic! Then more $$ freindly Mt Albert, Kingsland,...
