Re: Moving back home but 18 year old refusing .

I'm not a fan of Canada and would dearly love to live in the North of England instead, however posters on here prove that it's possible for people to get great jobs in Canada after growing up and...

Re: Has anyone moved from NS to another province? can't decide

Zero job security unless you are related to the employer, then you'll never get fired no matter how bad you are. I think it's worse in the Maritimes because so many people are related.

Re: Moving back home but 18 year old refusing .

Just out of interest, is one of your reasons for returning to the UK to look after you father?
I think Ann M has given some really good advice. Sometimes you have no choice but to let your kids try...

Re: Moving back home but 18 year old refusing .

Friends' kids in the UK have said their online experiences have been poor too.

I think the problem is that your daughter has grown up in Canada, so whilst she may not have citizenship she is...

Re: Has anyone moved from NS to another province? can't decide

We've often encountered the "offer loads, deliver nothing" from Canadians. We've only been in Atlantic Canada so can't speak for other areas, but it's extremely common, especially when it comes to...

Re: Moving back home but 18 year old refusing .

That confused me too. Cheltenham is most definitely in the South!

To the OP, why are you assuming that your daughter will cope well going off to a UK university but not if she stays in Canada?...

Re: Rant-car dealerships

Not sure the process is that much worse than the UK one, but the two things I hate here are the refusal to provide an actual price and instead insist on telling you the bi-weekly payments, and that...

Re: Whodunnit - solve the mystery please

Kerb replacement?

Oh, and the dodgy car was probably a private investigator ;)

Re: British family wanting to relocate to Canada

If you don't want to be in Ontario, and you want a short flight to the Carribean, then one of the Atlantic Provinces is your best bet. Probably Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Nor sure if there would...

Re: Any work ideas - Possibly out of the box?

Have you considered doing some Virtual Assistant gigs? That would allow you to set your own hours, and it may lead to something permanent with one of the companies you support.

Re: Grocery bag annoyances

Exactly as I remember it. Always packed everything myself, and continue to do so here. Sobeys here used to have packers that did a dreadful job of sticking heavy stuff on top of light stuff so I told...

Re: Masks

Would a plastic face shield work for you? I saw an older couple heading into a store the other wearing them and they weren't impacting their ears.

Re: Coronavirus

But most people didn't stay home the first time. They found excuses to be exempt and pottered off to the shops, maskless, and didn't worry how close they got to people. Then just for good measure...

Re: Coronavirus

The reason it keeps getting extended is because there are so many exceptions and people ignoring the requirements and putting others at risk. The answer is to for everyone to lockdown for 2 weeks and...

Re: Coronavirus

I think it's peace officers at the NB borders. Regardless of who they are, I expect that if they knew the child was living in Quebec they would have reminded the doctor about the 14 day quarantine...

Re: Coronavirus

Interesting. Originally he said that he'd gone to collect his daughter, who was living in Montreal, and who he brought back from there and put into daycare in Canada. Guessing she was infected...

Re: UK GP wants to move to Canada - BC or NB?

Moncton has quite a diverse community. Check out MAGMA (http://magma-amgm.org/). They usually have a big festival in the Summer.

Just make sure you have everything in writing because I know people who were made great promises only to arrive and find they weren't real.

Re: Move to New Brunswick or???

In your position, job and somewhere to live, I'd give it a try. If you don't like NB it will give you a chance to look around other areas and at least you won't always be wondering "what if?"

Re: Move to New Brunswick or???

Having lived in NB for several years now I tend to disagree. We were outdoorsy when we lived in the UK except when it rained. Here we still don't go out when it rains but we do go out when it snows...

Re: Kelowna or Regina or Sydney

So you preferred Kelowna, OH preferred Regina, does that mean neither of you liked Sydney?

Cost of living is likely to be much lower in Sydney, but it's very remote and your kids may not enjoy...

Re: When do we expect Trump to lift the travel ban against UK?
