Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Hi Keith. No, no aircon in our house. We use ceiling fans. Yeah, I know all about the high standing charges and have taken those into account. Frankly, the bills I have received for the last few...

Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Hi Bob. The meter is in a hole in the wall of my front garden. It doesn't look too smart to me. It's the same one that's been there for years, covered in cobwebs and dust. The pool is not heated; I...

Smile Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Thanks for that. Interesting that one can open a denuncia, but yes it's clear that one needs some sort of evidence for that to go ahead. I'm going to get my friend to photograph the meter reading...

Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Hi Amideislas,

So if the meter goes faulty or Iberdrola otherwise screw up your meter reading then they will simply adjust your consumption and bill you for what they think it should be ?? That...

Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Thanks Moses. Yes, the only power draw is the pool pump and the electrician says its working normally, drawing about 7 kW per day. He took meter readings on 3 successive days to confirm this.

Re: Electricity problem at our holiday home

Hi Rosemary,

Electricity problem at our holiday home

Hi Everybody,
My monthly electricity charges from Iberdrola have suddenly increased significantly in the last 3 months.
My 'normal' monthly invoice when the house is unoccupied is about €55. This...

Depositing cash in a Spanish bank ?

A football question

Hi all. I'm in Altea on the 28th. September. My favourite football team, Chelsea, are playing Valencia at the Mestella on that night. I don't think the game will be a sell-out so I'd like to go to...

Re: Is the new anti-smoking law working?

I would find it rather quaint to enter a bar, bartender absent, only to find him in the back exhaling smoke out the window and then him telling you to serve yourself :) Reminds me of Ireland.

Re: Is the new anti-smoking law working?

Hi cricketman, an attempt at levity: if one was to splice turtle genes into the ninja genome, what would happen ?:D

The motives of any large company are the same; to maximize profits for its...

Re: Is the new anti-smoking law working?

I'm talking about the fact that 'nature' has natural boundaries, matt, and the fact that genetic engineering is in many cases an attempt to mess with these boundaries.

Re: Is the new anti-smoking law working?

Hi matt, I think what cricketman is worried about is not artificial selection or natual selection but the act of genetic engineering, i.e. splicing a gene or genes into an existing helix which could...
