Re: Chemistry teacher and family looking to make the move...

This is an interesting opinion, mine is almost the opposite as a UKC with a USC living in the UK.

One of the main reasons I don't want to go back to the states is because of the outdoors. Its...

Re: Detroit and immigration

That's not anything to do with DTW, that's federal US law which applies at all international airports. You must clear customs and immigration at your first point of landing (unless you cleared it...

Re: A Career Decision - A Wife; DCF & L1

Well getting a good reference and potential future employment opportunities in the UK..

Re: A Career Decision - A Wife; DCF & L1

Exactly - that was a previous question I ask because I am aware that the L1 will be quicker, ensure a job at the end and my current employer will cover the costs...

That's the problem! I'm also...

Re: A Career Decision - A Wife; DCF & L1

Rene,

Thanks for your very detailed reply. It appears that this situation does not have a black and white answer, and I understand an immigration attorney maybe required.

I hear what you are...

Re: Moving to USA on L1-B With Pregnant Wife

Yes, I noted that. I was just pointing out there are upsides to internnational medical plans. It might be preferable to get some short term coverage for the pregnancy but then get the family on the...

Re: Moving to USA on L1-B With Pregnant Wife

I can't agree with this I am afraid. When I was in the US on secondment from 2008 to 2010 my company insisted I had an International Medical Plan which was significantly better than the US Group...

Re: L1b visa: qualifications and initial documentation

I supplied my BSc and MSc to the attorney as he requested them - they were quite unrelated to my area of specialist knowledge..

Re: "No Trace"

Since Ian Huntley I don't believe cautions are expunged anymore...
This was the reason he never flagged on any of the polices searches.

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

This is bullying. I told you something upset me, and you then reply with the single intention of upsetting me further.

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

I really didn't view it as any kind of victory. All I wanted a geniune answer to my question, so it was more of a loss for me and anyone in a similar situation. You usually give excellent answers...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

I have to be honest here - lots of people are really helpful on this forum and take time to give considered and thoughtful answers to questions - which they don't have to, and I am appreciative of...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

Ok - so you would file for EAD which would occur within 90 days..
and then change of status typically within 6 months.

So I guess to refine my question is does it make any difference that you...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

My logical answer is yes - I am looking for confirmation.

Given I managed to file all my wifes UK immigration papers for a spousal visa I'm not an absolute dodo in all matters in relation to...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

But you're changing status as the spouse of a US citizen, this has nothing to do with your company, right?

I have a friend who was an H1B, he got married to a USC and then filed for change of...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

For the reasons I listed - correct?

The company may not be prepared to wait 10 months..
.. and you aren't really a slave as you can immediately file a change of status once in the US?

No one...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

Right I think I am out of date as I haven't seen any of the 2011 updates.

Surely then its much more preferable to enter on an L1B and then immediately file for change of status once in the US.

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

I wasn't confusing the two. I meant resident for tax terms not for immigration. But agree I could be clearer :)

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

Noorah - thanks for the reply, I knew about the filing for PRs and USCs.

I am interested to know the reverse in the situation above. A US Resident on an L1B, who goes to work in a low tax regime...

Re: L1-B Interview Question, please help!

Ndaudi07 - thanks for taking the time to reply. Its an interesting situation.

Re: Relocating to USA - Dual Nationality

1. I don't think I said the status was dependent on the passport. I just pointed out that until the passport was claimed its highly unlikely your status would be known for immigration purposes (like...

I'm intrigued by this comment:
