Hi,

I am currently in the process of transferring from 457 to 856 (hopefully any day now!:fingerscrossed:) I didnt use an agent, and no point in the process was I asked about my financial details...

Yeah possibly not! But really the backlog can go on for ever! I still have nightmares of the six months I commuted and would never wish it anyone! But each to his own, and it might work for them xx

When I first arrived here I commuted from mermaid beach to Brisbane every day! It was awful!!! I had to start work at 7 15am so I thought i would miss rush hour traffic, I didnt reckon with the early...

Depends what country you are from. Uk Has a reciprocal agreement with Aus, so any publi care would be covered by medicare.

Exactly Gems. You will prob get a better menu choice and your own room, tho the private hospital I worked in was shared bathrooms! (and it was a very well known large city hospital!) But believe me...

Yeah, public system here in Aus, but it is much the same as the public system in the UK. :)

Maybe I misunderstood then? But I do know some employers keep your job and give you unpaid leave for up to a year. Mine did.

Perhaps things have changed recently. But I thought if you are on a 457 visa and leave employer, employer tells DIAC and the 457 visa is cancelled

As long as you are still employed by the employer who sponsored you for the 457, it is still valid. We have just been out of the country for 10 months (due to my dads illness) my employer kept my job...

Just put four years on your form. We did, and got our visa for four years. Friends of ours put two years, cos they weren't sure what was best and now they regret it, cos they could have had 4...
