Re: Anyone got broadband in Costa del Sol (Cadiz and Malaga)?

 It's hardly as if people are going to be coming around to their houses to make phone calls. The only people who will be able to make and receive calls are the people who live there. Duh....

Re: What IS wrong with the Brits abroad

So why do you call yourself an 'ex-pat', instead of an 'expat'? An expat is an expatriate an 'ex-pat' is an 'ex-patriot'.

As regards a lot of the Brits in Spain, remember that cringe-inducingly...

Re: Anyone heard of SKYPE telephone system?

With the Province Unlimited plan, those calls will be charged the same. With the Premium Unlimited plan, all calls to Canada and the US are included in the monthly fee.

Hi all,

I'm going to be in Gibraltar and surrounding areas of Spain in about four weeks time, so would be interested to get in touch with anyone with broadband (either ADSL or ONO cable) as I want...

Re: Anyone heard of SKYPE telephone system?

No problem. Vonage works exactly the way you've suggested. (StanaPhone does too, but you need to order the adapter separately.) It pretty much is 'plug and play'- see diagram. As long as you've got...

Re: Anyone heard of SKYPE telephone system?

If you scroll down, you'll see 'Canadian Residents click here', and it takes you to Vonage Canada (http://www.vonage.ca) With luck, they'll be operating in the UK too by the end of the year, so you...

Re: Dual Citizenship - England & Germany?

Well said. A British passport is probably more Irish than English as it not only has the word Ireland on it, but also the name of the UK in Irish, courtesy of the EU. Try finding the words England...

Re: Anyone heard of SKYPE telephone system?

Well, why not get a VoIP service in which you plug your phone into an adapter and then into your router/modem, like Vonage (http://www.vonage.com)? You don't even need your PC on! With Stanaphone...

Northern Cyprus (http://www.sunny-property.co.uk/cost_of_living_in_north_cyprus.html ) would be worth looking into,...

Yep, that's about right. I notice that Telefonica ADSL uses a combined modem/router. You can use an adapter like one of these these (http://www.voiptalk.org/products/index.php?cPath=37&ses) , but...

Terima kasih banyak.

Malaysia would be a good choice, as it's a happy medium between regimented Singapore and anarchic Bangkok.

First thing, it's not called Ceylon any more. It hasn't been called that since 1972. You're unlikely to make yourself popular among Sri Lankans by calling it Ceylon.

Re: Why Oz/Nz and not Europe??????

Huh? In Holland, English is virtually an official language- they don't dub movies or TV shows, and BBC1 and 2 have been available on cable TV there (and in Belgium) for years.

The Costa del Sol...

What do you mean by supervoice? You can either download a free softphone from Xten (http://www.xten.com) or use MSN Messenger. There shouldn't be any problems using with Telefonica...

UK Phone via Broadband

If you've got a broadband internet connection (ADSL or cable), then you can make and receive calls as if you were using a UK landline.

That means you have a UK number (either non-geographic or...

Re: Multi Cultural Britain

Point taken. My experience with Adelaide people has been more Backpacker than Beaumont. A state MP in WA was slagging off Adelaide and Hobart, but they can't be bad as Auckland.
