I got mine done at a photo-me photo booth in Tescos. All the measurements were within the limits stated. Got my visa a few weeks ago no problems.

I had the same letter. I have to hand my passport in 30 days after I've had my medical.

Mine is similar. I sent my documents off 1st June and the deadline date was 10th August. I just got my medical request 18th Nov.
