Re: On a more serious note.

There is a big difference between racism and closure. Closure I have it with my neighbour, I don't know her, I don't even want or need to know her.She behaves in a good way, for me it is enough for a...

Re: On a more serious note.

I think that each population has its own history, which affects behaviour. You cannot say Italians and British have same thoughts and same habits, we are different but this doesn't interdict a good...

Re: On a more serious note.

I assume that there is a basic reason from which Italy is so far from real strangers' integration. I guess it comes all from our history. As a Land which was conquered many times...

Re: On a more serious note.

Surely Italy is not completely ready yet to welcome strangers who come here to stay and live in. I guess Italians always consider strangers in two different types: the ones that come here which are...

Re: Home School in Italy?

We don't do it because school is necessary to the child to learn to stay with other children and helps him to behave in the community and to be integrated. We've been told italian primary school...

Re: English words misused by italians

Sorry but I cannot understand..."bimbo" has one only meaning = child (the only occasion we use "bimbo" differently is when you ask a mother "how's your bimbo" even if he's 35 - so sweet!) - I cannot...

Re: English words misused by italians

Lorna no problem, I didn't get it as a critic, I am aware (and sad) that Italians have more problems rather then other countries' people. That's the truth, we cannot hide it. Of course, I speak about...

Re: English words misused by italians

I cannot guess why, I can just remember to have heard many "English" words and have accepted them as true, and then discovered at Languages school they were completely misused. But it was too...

Re: On a more serious note.

37100 I'm sorry for what has happened to you and your son. Trust me, not all Italians are racist. You see, there is a fact that I do not approve but I can see it. In Italy there are many problems,...

Re: English words misused by italians

I usually use "in questo periodo" (more than 1 week), "in questi giorni" (4/5 days, not more or I'd use "periodo"), "di recente"...never. I may use it to say "L'ho visto di recente" just to avoid...

Re: English words misused by italians

Mmmhhh..let me think...ok, "dei jeans" in too colloquial and I think it is not completely correct in Italian, I'd rather use "un paio di jeans" to describe. For what concerns the phone, we usually...

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

I think the translation could be "At least"...we may use "semmai" when there is a uncertain situation: ex. "At what time tonight?" "No lo so ancora, semmai ci sentiamo piu' tardi (così ci...

Re: What to do?

As Italian I have my own particular idea about gypsos...I think it is common to most of Italians. Personally, I can't stand them, even if it might sound racist. And maybe it is, but their way of life...

Re: Dead Wood

I may suggest you not to take anything, it's against the law as it is property of the State (it's called "Demanio pubblico"). It may seem some places are left there without any care, but if the...
