Is sponsorship an option for any of you, my mate was on a student visa but changed to a 457 half way thru?

no you cant do 20 hours paid and 20 hours unpaid. even if u are working at the salvos unpaid it still counts towards your 20 hours! :)

I think on the 485 you still have school fees for kids, i may be wrong though,
I have a friend on student visa with a family in same situation

mothercare deliver to oz but dont know about larger items, but i wouldnt any way as if you or your son were injured in a crash your insurance would be void therefore no compensation or anything.

Im applying as a general gardener my salary is $49 thousand and something but that inculdes super. I will have a look on immi site now for ya :)

I am applying for a 457 soon and I am aware that if I loose my job I loose my visa, I wouldnt think you have much of a case to be honest!! Its one of the risks coming on a temporary visa.

You could maybe also just sign up to health insurance and get your certificate pay monthly and once you arrive just cancel it and sign up to medicare!
Not sure if this would work though?

Yes, as Im already in Australia and I hold a medicare card she said a certified copy of it is enough evidence.
If u are applying from the UK im not sure if you can get your medicare card before you...

Just got off the phone to immigration department and as I am already In Australia and have medicare I can just send them a certified copy of my medicare card! :thumbup:

Hi Karen,

I am in the same position as you, about to apply for my visa and was wondering about the health insurance, I thought exactly the same as you as Im already in Oz and hold a medicare card...
