unfortunately the new act has created the same issue as the old act...it would of been easier to solve it and move forward.

Having said that under retroactive citizenship your parent is made...

You are right but those born in 77-2009 had no way of registering because of the gender divide. ie grants for children of women registration for those of men. Retroactive citizenship oridinarily...

JAJ i read the definition on the page link you gave me. It isnt my dads situation i dont believe. the citizenship act 1977 states that if your register after 1979 there are two rules..delayed...

If you had a Grant(Those with Candian born mothers under 77 act) in 2004, and your citizenship is now retroactive as of 2009 do you need to claim a new citizenship card?

They did marry JAJ my understanding is (unless I read it wrong) the paper available of the 77/09 laws on the CIC that registering your application (77act requires 1st descents to APPLY) before 2004...

Thanks Kiwi and Christmas I believe the reason was that I was entitled to citizenship but it was not claimed and rules kept to by age 28.

My fathers registration held him as a Canadian citizen...

He was born in 68 so as trhe 77act states 1st by rule to canadian born parent outside canada. Delayed registration done by end 2004. i was born between 77 and 09 2nd rule ends from 09. I am now 31....

Yeah he I dont see him but I understand that it may have been 2005. I have been told he did not see any info at the time about the 2nd rule just the first which is why he did not reply for me before...

I checked with Dad he was entitled to his citizenship simply by sending off for it as first by descent rule counted.

I found this current info on CIC though this a question put up by the CIC...
