Re: Anyone else going through the E2 Visa Application process at the moment?

That advice is actually correct. As a married couple one of you can be the priniciple investor (i.e the one who runs the business you buy and is the majority shareholder of that business) and the...

Re: Anyone else going through the E2 Visa Application process at the moment?

Hi Beretta,

Thanks for the tips - our E2 was actually approved a couple of days ago so we're now rushing around packing!

We don't have kids - though we were aware of the problems you raised...

Re: Funding the E-2: What comes first the Chicken or the Egg????

I'd definitely recommend checking with a visa lawyer - but based on what you've said above I think you're going to have to sell your house first. I'm assuming you're buying an existing business in...

Re: Anyone else going through the E2 Visa Application process at the moment?

It's your call but I would highly recommend doing it yourself. You'll be putting a lot of your own money at risk and running the business - so you want to make sure you're completely on top of...

Re: Anyone else going through the E2 Visa Application process at the moment?

Can vary but you'll need to do the following if buying an existing business:

: Speak to the current owner to see if...

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

Doesn't sound like you've done too bad! Unless you're really lucky with your timing it's next to impossible to buy right at the bottom of the market - so I'd say you've come pretty close?

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

Now you're the ideal person for me to know! If you can get me a mortgage I can borrow in US$, take advantage of the low house prices in AZ right now - and pay off the mortgage when the £ is strong...

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

which brings me back to my original question. If we can afford to buy the house we want now - is it better just to buy it - and avoid the risk of £ dropping? I know if that happens I will really be...

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

That's an incredible drop from July - October 2008 - 1.89 down to 1.57. Can anyone explain why - I'm a total novice with causes of FX volatility. Obviously there was the banking crisis but that was...

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

Hi Timberhut,

This is exactly the thought that is going through my mind. Whilst I fully appreciate that the sensible thing to do is to rent for 6 months until we know the area better - we've asked...

Re: When to buy a house? Debating state of the US property market V £/$ exchange rate

We have enough to buy outright - so we can avoid that problem. We're buying in Arizona where there seem to be a lot of short sales/foreclosures available. Can't speak for the rest of the USA though I...

Myself and my wife are moving to the USA in approx 6-8 weeks. We sold...

Re: Moving to Phoenix in a few months - any Brits here to drink with?

Re: Moving to Phoenix in a few months - any Brits here to drink with?

Hey Andrew,

Our business is going to be based in Scottsdale - we're not 100% decided on where to live yet - we're probably going to rent for a year before buying. When we were there we were...

Re: Phoenix Arizona suitable for raising a family?

Hi Sally,

We lived in Vail CO for a year, and have travelled round most of the USA on various holidays/road trips. How does the lifestyle in Phoenix compare with the rest of the USA?

Re: Phoenix Arizona suitable for raising a family?

Cheers CelticRover - any idea which part would be best to live? We've only stayed in Scottsdale - liked it there but have heard it's a bit snobby? Any advice?
