So sorry to hear of your plight, and do feel for you, I flew to NZ and this cost was hurtful, although expected, so I do hope that the Immigration dept may help you with some kind of recompense...

Just a little more info, I live in Victoria and pay a $75 annual subcription to Vic Ambulance, to cover any need for an ambulance journey at anytime, to save the large cost if one does...

I travelled one way in March 2010 with Singapore Airlines at a cost of £576 40
but was only allowed the normal baggage weight of 20kilos. as was on a visitors visa.

Thank you for this info, my only worldwide income is my UK state pension, which I will eventually get transfered to here, and my house money will now only just cover the cost of a small single unit...

Try AAMI, they were very helpful in my case, I only have a simple low key Building and contenets policy with them for my humble abode at £323,so might be worth a quote.
