UPDATE: We got the passports!! They arrived yesterday morning via UPS. My husband was in the shower and had to answer the door wrapped in a towel :)

Good point. However, my son is only 4. We especially wanted to clarify that to the Consulate, and they STILL didn't care, and required all the additional paperwork. So treat us as a cautionary tale:...

Wouldn't you go to your local Embassy for that? For example, here in the Dallas area, I'd have to go to the UK Embassy in Houston for Emergency Travel documents (and we'd all have to apply in person).
