Re: Stuff trashed by 'power event'

I used to specialise in fibre on overhead lines - optical fibre telecoms cables buried in, wrapped around or strung beneath high voltage power lines. I didn't get near the consumer end, I was always...

Hey B. I'm too much the newbie to offer any advice, but check out the UK-Yankee website for issues regarding your overstay, or the Transpondia information resource. Google will help you find either. ...

Re: Local Government Officer - is a J-1 a possibility??

Yes, your link was very useful, but I'm still concerned about this bit. I'm thinking that if I'm being paid a wage / fee of some sort, this could be construed as being financed indirectly by the U.S....

Re: Hiya y'all

Yes I've met a few Salfordians here already, which is really a surprise as Salford is such a small city, only 200,000 people or so.

I'm finding these forums such a godsend at...

Re: Stuff trashed by 'power event'

Also it should have been greased every 10 years. Can you confirm that it was greased at least twice during its lifespan?

Re: Stuff trashed by 'power event'

Umm, hate to admit to being a geek so early in my relationship with you guys, but maybe this gem of geekness will be useful.

The maximum working lifespan of a catenary cable is 20 years - shorter...

Re: Local Government Officer - is a J-1 a possibility??

Lol, no wonder Salford is suffering from depopulation. I thought it was because we were all moving to Manchester, seems we're all emigrating to be with our foreign lovers. :D Lisag is from Salford...

Re: Moving to NYC - any international removal co recommendations?

An ex-colleague emigrated to Australia last summer, and knowing that I might be contemplating a move to Louisiana, I gathered as much info as possible.

She had several companies visit her home,...

Re: Local Government Officer - is a J-1 a possibility??

Yes, I love him, I want to live with him, but I wouldn't be marrying him if he was another UKC, not until I'd known him a few more years yet. I'm a 39 year never-married woman - all kinds of...

Re: Local Government Officer - is a J-1 a possibility??

Ok, scrap that idea on the basis of the 2 year home residency requirement. I'd spotted that somewhere in the regulations, but I couldn't tell if it applied to a Government Visitor or not. I thought...

Local Government Officer - is a J-1 a possibility??

Hiya y'all. I'm told you don't bite much, but I've been lurking around this forum for a while and I'm not so sure. Not to worry, I'm thick skinned.

I'm a UKC, clean record, solid financials,...

Re: What to do with UK iPhone when moving to the US

Hiya, I can't answer your question exactly, but I can give a few clues.

I've got an iPhone 3G - not 3GS - also on a UK O2 monthly contract, which I regularly use as a standard cellphone in...

Re: Hiya y'all

Lol, I didn't expect to find another Salfordian online at the same time as me, for sure!

(Shh... Just between you and me... Although I've lived in Salford longer than anywhere, I was born in...
