Because I am not a Brit. I would address you as ma'am and sir because I think it is proper and respectful.

That is how I was raised, and I am from Texas, so therefore I am a Southerner.

I know sir/ma'am. But you see Shakespeare is a part of English Literature. And we have to learn about it whether we like it or not.

I do not have a perfect english grammar. I admit that. But Shakespeare is taught in our english schools here in the US, and its mandatory.
