I got an email today from USCIS notifying me that the I-140 application submitted in July had been approved! My laywer filed the I-485 concurrently.

Apparently they file for it the moment I step into the US under the new employment contract... Though, if that sounds wrong it might be due to me misunderstanding what it says :)

That makes a lot of sense. I guess the best thing possible would be to apply for a EB-2 as the waiting times seem a lot shorter.
