Because it means that I can only visit friends in Washington for 90 days of my time in Canada, where as the B2 would've allowed it for 180 days, and to reset the VWP I have to return to England,...

As far as I know residing means living. I figured that since I would be in Canada for a year on a legitimate working holiday visa that I would be officially residing there? Correct me if I'm wrong....
