Re: This wasnt supposed to happen, we are now POOR

Good grief. What you are suggesting is that property values are guaranteed to grow at around 9% a year completely independent of the rest of the economy. I can't even begin to explain how broken this...

Re: This wasnt supposed to happen, we are now POOR

I didn't say no-one who has made money on property has put in any hard-work, but no-one's individual effort created the property boom. Renovation may well see a profit, but the major source of...

Re: This wasnt supposed to happen, we are now POOR

I wasn't oversimplifying anything. I was responding to your statement that you have a right to abuse people who rent and "moan about house prices". You said nothing about them criticising house...

Re: This wasnt supposed to happen, we are now POOR

Eh? Has someone who stayed out of the housing market because they thought the whole thing was overheated and prices too high (an opinion rather supported by the evidence) wronged you in some way? If...

Re: How long until next step?

The interview that NZIS give you if you apply for a skilled migrant visa without a job offer.

Re: Why are NZQA failing to recognise UK qual's??Are you having the same problem???

Which organisation? You're leaving it open to the inference that this was a comment from within NZQA as that's the only organisation you've menetioned, and I don't believe that is what you're...

Re: How long until next step?

As I said above, my EOI status hasn't changed from "Application Received". I've had my ITA, sent it back and had the interview already.

Re: Bridge burning.

Bridge burning suggests making it impossible to return. I'm not entirely sure how you manage to do that outside of renouncing British citizenship (and even then you can apply to get it back).

Re: How long until next step?

I don't believe anything changed in terms of status on the website for me after my EOI was selected. The next thing that happened was the ITA pack arriving about a month later. The ITA status is...

Re: caveat emptor

Whenever I hear Brits making a fuss about how they percieve that their nationality is sometimes held against them I tend to assume that they have had very little experience of living amongst the...

Re: How many Brits end up in Australia?

It's going to vary depending on your personal circumstances. A few years back I looked into Oz immigration and found that I didn't have the points (I would have needed to provide $100,000 Aus to top...

Re: What's weird about NZ?

I remember milk in plastic bags and having the little jug to put them in from my childhood in the UK. It seemed a fairly common packaging method at one point.

Re: Let's be honest! How easy is it to get PR in Nz

Good grief. None of us are "through". Do you think all the debt created by our governments throwing cash at the problem is just going to evaporate? .

Re: Cost of Dentist

In the UK, privately, I pay £90+ for a filling and a recent root treatment and crown is at £750 with the fitting yet to come. The NZ prices quoted above don't sound particularly inflated although I'm...

Re: Expats out in NZ Married only??!

People with partners tend to mention their partners a lot. People without don't generally feel the need to mention the lack. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence and all that.

Re: Why did you leave?

I don't want to be premature as I'm only at the very start of the process, but I'm on that path simply because the UK doesn't allow the sort of lifestyle I've been looking to achieve and I don't see...

Re: The Property slide is gone....

The post-Christmas pick-up has prompted a lot of the vested interests to start blowing trumpets and sounding the charge again. The "confidence is all" argument is standard fare for these people who...

Re: EOI waiting time

It varies depending on your circumstances. London claims within 10 days for skilled migrants with job offers and within 3 months for those without a job offer. Judging by recent signatures, it is...

Re: New and Need Advice

Are you saying that you can't buy a non-shed house within a couple of hours of Auckland for less than 750,000 NZD? Or are you confusing the OPs GBP figure with NZD?
