Re: Living in Al Ain

You'll get paid more working for the local authorities, but you'll probably never sign a contract, so beware!

Re: Living in Al Ain

Savings but she said I could have checking as well, although everyone I've spoken to says I definitely need residency for checking. I'm not convinced a checking account is worth having as it costs...

Re: Living in Al Ain

I opened a bank account without residency. I needed my passport and a letter from my employer. They were satisfied with my residency being 'in progress'.

Re: Living in Al Ain

Doh! My wife just rang to say she went to Al Ain Starbucks and there was no-one there. Has this coffee morning stopped now? Nevermind. She's gone shopping instead.

Re: Living in Al Ain

Wow! That was lucky. What school is he working in? I'd love to speak to him as I'm a little bit in the dark about it until I get there! Could you ask him if it's ok to drop him an email? Thanks.

Re: Living in Al Ain

Thanks for being so helpful! I've just read that there are other coffee mornings on Mondays and Tuesdays. She'll probably come along to those too!

That's great thankyou! My wife will no doubt be there on the 16th of April! We have a little boy called Thomas. What time do you usually meet?

Re: Living in Al Ain

Hi everyone. I'm moving my family out to Al Ain to work for the SSAT in 2 weeks time. Would love to meet up with anyone willing? We have a one year old boy - are there any baby groups for mothers etc...

Re: expat wives in Al Ain.

My wife and I are moving out to Al Ain in 3 weeks. I'm also working for SSAT. We're keen to meet up with new people. Is anyone in this thread still out there!

Moving to Al Ain in April

Hello, I'm moving my family to Al Ain for a teaching post in April. Looking to start a bit of networking before we get out there. Anyone live there or have any useful advice?
