Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September

It may be silly to quote myself but I need to correct this.
Correction: Please ignore this statement, it's nonsense. shafanm, you were right - already lodged applications had not been affected by...

Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September

Sorry for being off-topic - but this statement should be corrected.
I am quite sure that Canada actually did change their rules due to the crisis.
One, CIC (Canada's equivalent to DIAC) produced a...

Re: The Tradies Thread.

I might be wrong, but I dare to say that in my opinion, having a State Sponsorship or not just makes a difference of one step on the ever-changing ladder of priorities (#5 vs #6). A lot has already...

Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September

As far as I know, the CSL's phasing-out was mentioned in one of these drafts regarding the changes to the Immigration system. Nothing concrete, no promises.

They might even stick to the...

Re: Queensland state sponsorship.

Hmm, let me guess: It was KITT who compiled this list!
(Sorry, but I did have to ask that ;))

It seems that you took the state of things from march and kind of extrapolated it onto the rest of...

Re: Should I wait or reapply? A big question

There's one thing that hasn't been mentioned yet:

You say that you could re-apply not before March 2010 and that you'd rely on an occupation on the CSL, right?
I suggest to have a look at this...

Re: Queensland State Sponsored visa

They did not ask for a specific document - I think it's up to us to decide what is appropriate and/or sufficient.
The emphasis, though, was on "funds in form of savings rather than any other asset...

Re: Queensland State Sponsored visa

Things are moving ... :)

I've been asked for proof of funds this morning (app received on 30 March).
I didn't provide it back in March because it had not been on the list of required documents....

Re: Nurses to be taken off MODL?

John, my understanding is this:
You can apply for a 175 visa or a 176 visa (which is basically a 175 with additional sponsorship and a few obligations) without regard to the MODL.

It might be,...

Re: QLD SS application - address for couriers

I suppose you took this snipplet of text from the official website?
Back then, I was confused too, because it is an incorrect adress actually - it contains two street names and two postcodes.

Re: Queensland State Sponsored visa

This forum (and this thread and our little list of applicants in particular) is of great use in judging the process. Wasn't it for the list, I would've called them - because I would be afraid that...

I entered week 16 yesterday, since my Appl. was acknowledged on 30 March.
Can anyone beat that? ;)

Re: So, exactly how hard is the IELTS tests?

Hi Karen,

I would gauge my English to be average at best (non-mothertongue).
I sat the test in February after a series of low-effort evening classes and a bit of personal coaching (mainly...

But unlike you, I've heard nothing since ... I...

Re: Queensland State Sponsored visa

Hmm - 18 March, that was well before the requirements (e.g. evidence of funds) were tightened a bit.

May I ask which documents you've been asked for?

Thanks

Re: The Tradies Thread.

Congrats for your TRA assessment!

I think the most common approach would be to lodge an application for a 175 visa and deal with the State Sponsorship later on, since you can hand it in afterwards...

Re: The Tradies Thread.

That's a good point, I've had the same thought.
Why would they let the trades stay on the Skilled Sponsored Eligible List and "gather" applications they don't want to process. That obviously doesn't...

Re: The Tradies Thread.

I applied for 175 one week before the CSL-crunch - so at least I know how it feels like, beeing on the CSL ;)
I joined the stampede some weeks ago and...
