Regarding PR visa - is that it once you have it? Can you live in NZ whenever you want or is there a minimum period you have to stay or terms and conditions to it in order for it to remain valid?...

Is there provision to pay for bills, mortgage etc before...

That's a genius idea- have used the Woolworths online site, done a 'weekly' shop and put it into the salary calculator on emigrate nz site. Along with the other estimates, it does seem okay....

Hello, just doing some rough sums...
I reckon £10,000 to get out there and set up, then if / when you decided to move back to the UK, in people's experience, are we talking another £8,000 odd?...

I think the live further out option would make it much more viable, having looked a little at the 'trademe' website. And it doesn't seem that much of a cummute either - 17 odd miles from Plimmerton...

Thank you all for your advice, esp Kiwiprincess. There is a general consensus that $55k isn't that good a wage for central Wellington!! Back to the drawing board..
