Re: Permanent resident being made redundant

Thanks TexanScot and sorry for the delayed response, I'm in forensic metallurgy and failure analysis. I somehow managed to pass the exam and get my PE license so with any luck that'll help in finding...

Re: Permanent resident being made redundant

Awesome, thank you for the confirmation Jerseygirl. I'm hoping I can find another job as quickly as possible when I return from my 'sabbatical' in the UK, and then knuckle down and stay out of...

Permanent resident being made redundant

I have been a legal permanent resident for a couple of weeks shy of a year, I have remained with my sponsoring company since becoming a PR. Unfortunately, with the installation of a new CEO, our UK...

Here's my AOS timeline from around this time last year for your reference:

I-485 / I-485J / I-765 / I-131 receipt date: 05/31/2018
Biometrics notice date: 06/08/2018

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Not necessarily, the filing date for EB1 ROW is currently sat at 01SEP18 which is agonisingly close to your PD; all you need is for that filing date to advance a couple of months and for USCIS to...

Re: Priority date question

It only really becomes important if a particular visa category is oversubscribed, here's a good description of how visa retrogression works:

Re: i140,i184,EAD, AP - questions on process

I'm just basing this estimate off my own recent(ish) experiences and that fact that your case seems to be progressing slightly faster than mine did. The interview will be handled by your local field...

Re: i140,i184,EAD, AP - questions on process

I wouldn't be surprised if you have your interview before your reach 6 months; you should have received your interview notice by then so you'll have a date to aim for at the very least.

If you...

Re: i140,i184,EAD, AP - questions on process

Congratulations nudda! Do you think it might be possible to hang on with your current employer until you get your green card? Given the similarities in our timelines so far I reckon you're not far...

Re: one step closer to the GC ...

I received my green card 7 months after biometrics, but I was delayed slightly due to retrogression. Hopefully you'll be approved at interview and your card should go into production almost...

Re: one step closer to the GC ...

Just as an indication, I had my EAD/AP card in hand roughly 2 months after my biometrics appointment, but as always YMMV!

Re: one step closer to the GC ...

Ohhh my bad, I thought you were EB1 for some reason. If you've just had your biometrics appointment then I *think* that means your AOS is already under way, in my case it was just under 4 months...

Re: one step closer to the GC ...

Congratulations nudda, filing concurrently was also a very good move given USCIS' recent switch back to using FAD as the filing date. Just need to keep an eye on those visa bulletins now!

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Just a heads-up, it would appear that from next month USCIS will stop honouring the filing dates given in the second table in the visa bulletin for employment-based AOS and instead revert back to...

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Oh no worries, having just gone through it all I know how nerve-wracking the process can be!
Yeah, it's my understanding that getting the I-140 approved is the hard part; provided you get the I-485...

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Yup, you've got it. But for now you just need to worry about the filing date; as soon as it moves past Oct 15th 2018 and that bulletin comes into effect you're allowed to file your I-485 and I-765...

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

The final action date determines when an immigrant visa will become available to you, while the filing date governs when you can file your I-485 and associated paperwork to apply to adjust status....

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

This is why it's a good idea to apply for an extension to your L1 visa ahead of time (assuming your company is willing to pay for it and you haven't already reached the maximum permissible stay for...

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Correct, although bear in mind if your L status expires while awaiting adjudication on your AOS and it gets denied, you immediately go out of status.

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

The final action date for EB1 ROW has been advancing by 3-5 months with each visa bulletin, however the filing date has been stuck at June 2018 for some reason. Have all of your AOS paperwork ready...

Re: L-1a to Green Card processing route?

Green card arrived on Saturday! All told my AOS has taken a smidge under 8 months, and that was with retrogression. In the end I think AOS was the right choice versus consular processing. Breathing a...
