Thought I'd share the next exciting episode of Tax Saga O8.

I've called the CRA a couple more (4 :o) times between last night and this morning. Two of them were very helpful with the OH issue....

I think I'll sit down with the papers prepared by the accountant tonight and make any necessary changes depending what he has actually done.

Makes sense as that's why I was told to include his income (for GST, child tax dohickies etc). Seeing as it's only half his income for the year, we'd probably still qualify for GST. Depressing really.

Seriously? If that's the case then I wonder if that can be applied to us as well...No kidlets and hubby hasn't ever lived or worked here.

I think that's what we'll do. Only, to save another long discussion with the accountant, I think I'll just make the changes once I get the paperwork back.

And this is why I'm confused. Nobody, including the accountant, can agree on the best way to do things when you're in an immigration situation.

According to the CRA he doesn't need to file or submit any status of world income etc to Canada.

Hubby has the visa :D

Now we just have to get the landing done (flying to Toronto on the 23rd) and get him all settled with a SIN and drivers license etc.

We got that too. I'm not sure what in means in terms of how much longer it will take, but on the plus side it is one more thing ticked off that they have to do while processing your case. For us, DM...

I'd suggest sitting down and going over the application guides and the overseas processing manual (it's number 2) to get a good idea of where you need to start.

You could always keep your name and change later (I'm halfway through the process and it's a serious pain in the behind:p)

Also, would you even need to get it changed once you have a PR card in...
