Re: Spousal Sponsorship- via London

Hubby landed yesterday and was so quick he was actually out before I arrived at the airport! Today he's running around getting all his bits and bobs done and getting on with the job hunt. I can't...

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

Thought I'd share the next exciting episode of Tax Saga O8.

I've called the CRA a couple more (4 :o) times between last night and this morning. Two of them were very helpful with the OH issue....

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

Thanks JonboyE. That makes sense.

I think I'll sit down with the papers prepared by the accountant tonight and make any necessary changes depending what he has actually done.

Just to clarify,...

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

Seriously? If that's the case then I wonder if that can be applied to us as well...No kidlets and hubby hasn't ever lived or worked here.

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

I think that's what we'll do. Only, to save another long discussion with the accountant, I think I'll just make the changes once I get the paperwork back.

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

And this is why I'm confused. Nobody, including the accountant, can agree on the best way to do things when you're in an immigration situation.

Re: Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

According to the CRA he doesn't need to file or submit any status of world income etc to Canada.

Bleeping taxes...please help before my brain starts melting...

I asked this over on another board but though the folks over here may have an idea of the whole UK / Canada tax situation. This is the first year I am filing as a married, but of course hubby does...

Re: Spousal Sponsorship- via London

I definitely will. We're getting pretty excited now that it looks like he is actually coming! Having the bit of paper in your hands make everything much more real.

Re: Spousal Sponsorship- via London

Hubby has the visa :D

Now we just have to get the landing done (flying to Toronto on the 23rd) and get him all settled with a SIN and drivers license etc.

Re: Spousal Sponsorship- via London

We got that too. I'm not sure what in means in terms of how much longer it will take, but on the plus side it is one more thing ticked off that they have to do while processing your case. For us, DM...

Re: Is this possible?

Ja, that's a pretty scary thing for everyone right now. Hubby will probably be studying for the next 3 years once he gets here as we figure it makes sense for him to work a crappy job (hello Tim...

I'm glad you're starting to get a handle on all this, Allys :)

Just a couple of questions etc. Are you landing in May and are you getting married in the UK or Canada? If you are landing and then...

Re: Is this possible?

I think further up the OP actually specified she was asking about the sponsorship application, so I'm pretty sure she knows it's not 32 days in total. Wouldn't it be nice :)

That's an excellent...

Re: Is this possible?

I'd suggest sitting down and going over the application guides and the overseas processing manual (it's number 2) to get a good idea of where you need to start.

Everything goes in in one...

Re: Is this possible?

According to London, it is taking six months from the time you submit the Canadian portion (check out the CIC London website). Trackitt also gives an idea of current timelines, but every case is...

Re: Is this possible?

Hmmm...You could wait until after your other half is here and you're all settled to change your name. Wait, that's probably just as annoying. I vote you make him change his name.

Re: Is this possible?

You could always keep your name and change later (I'm halfway through the process and it's a serious pain in the behind:p)

Also, would you even need to get it changed once you have a PR card in...
