Thanks jeff - that's what I was getting at - I had strange visions of hordes of people using my note word-for-word and them going "Hm, maybe we should look at this one again" - or somehow being held...

I suppose isn't that the case for any insurance - you wonder what you're paying for most of the time but you aren't half-grateful for it when faced with whacking great bill for health/auto/house...

I'd also check the refund policy, I was pointed in that direction by ian-mstm very helpfully - if you pick up insurance through work you may be able to get a pro-rata'd refund for the unused portion...

My documents were picked up on 1st March and on the phone (I didn't get a tracking number for some reason) they confirmed that it was delivered to Embassy on 3rd March.

Haven't heard anything yet...

I have an 'Atlas America' policy which provides up to around $1,000,000 of cover 6 months cover was around $500 with a $250 deductible.

I'd be concerned that in a 'true' emergency, such as one...

The state I am moving to - CA - has the MRMIP 'major risk' healthcare plan to cover people who cannot obtain individual coverage as a 'fall-back'.

It seems while you are on the waiting list you can purchase a plan from a couple of providers which is higher cost but the same coverage.

I think I'll have to put together some proper documents...
