Re: Anybody fly out of Canada to Europe?

We live in Seattle and flew YVR-LHR in July this year. It was a no-brainer because of the fare difference, even after factoring in 2 weeks parking in Vancouver.

Re: moving as a single mum

Under what basis will you be moving to SA with your boyfriend? I don't believe SA issues residency permits for those in co-habiting relationships. You'd probably need to be married in order to get...

Re: move to Atlanta ..questions Questions ??

OP, whereabouts will you be working? I live in Suwanee and work in Norcross, so my commute is very straightforward. Unless I have to visit a customer downtown or go to the airport I stay the hell...

Re: L1A/L2 to Green Card questions

One would hope that it will be EB-1, as it avoids PERM (Labor Cert), which also adds to the timeframes.

Re: L1A/L2 to Green Card questions

My I-140 was approved in 88 days (EB-1(c) category) and I-485 in 154 days. If you file concurrently then you can probably expect it to take around the same amount of time as an I-485 filed...

Re: Renewed L1, options for consulate interviews, possibly South Africa.

I work with a Saffer and she did her L1 renewal in Toronto with no issues.

Cape Town or Jo'burg *may* do if for you, but there's no guarantee (strictly speaking there is no guarantee that any...

Re: Renewed L1, options for consulate interviews, possibly South Africa.

Ian, my reading is that the OP is the L1 beneficiary, so strictly speaking he may be considered a TCN if he attends the consulate in South Africa. The fact that his missus is a South African citizen...

Re: landline providers?

We use Ooma, which is a VOIP provider similar to Vonage, except you only pay regulatory fees / taxes each month - mine is $3 plus change.

You have to drop a bit of dosh on the box (around $170)...

Re: uscis i-90 country field

Funny story...our I-485s (and I-131s and I-765s) had been pending for months. I opened up service requests with USCIS because the EADs were beyond the 90 day period for adjudication. Obviously they...

Ian has already told you where to start. What further help could you possibly want? Nobody is going to apply for the visa on your behalf!

Re: REFUSED ENTRY TO USA

My interpretation of these codes (and IANAL) is that you presented yourself for inspection at a U.S. PoE, most likely under the terms of the VWP, and were refused entry for a CIMT (i.e....

Re: Incorrect I-94

M, most (if not all) DMVs have access to USICS's SAVE database which is used to verify alien entitlements. Since the I-94 number is probably the "key" by which non-immigrants are tracked, that may...

Re: L1(a) OR Consular i-140? advice/help wanted

If this is your preferred approach, then by all means go for it. You are lucky to have a sponsor that is so flexible in terms of the timing.

Just to clarify something else that you mentioned...

Re: L1(a) OR Consular i-140? advice/help wanted

For CP, the USCIS involvement ends when the I-140 has been approved. After that it is up to the ConOff (and thus by proxy the Department of State) to decide whether the IV should be granted.

The...

Re: L1(a) OR Consular i-140? advice/help wanted

Remember that consular processing for an IV requires an approved I-140 petition, and L-1 also requires an approved petition (I forget which number it is exactly).

For both of those petition type...

But..but...you are talking about socialism here. How can people be socialist and civilized at the same time? It just doesn't compute.
