Thank you ian and Boiler- I thought that might be case. Like you say at least we can wait it out in the USA if the E2 visa is approved and then hopefully a renewal in the future.

I am German by birth (also British)- last year Germany was on the diversity lottery list.

It would be the I-130 for married daughter of 21- my mum is American by birth. I may have worded it...
