Two weeks in Norway

The wife and I are just back from two weeks with our son and his children in Norway. Very nice - as always - but by God it was cold where we were! The boy has just bought 60 acres of trees - plus a bit of cleared land with old cabins on it - in the high hills overlooking the town of Gol, roughly halfway between Oslo and Bergen. It was nice to be able to walk around without a torch for all but a couple of hours late at night, but we could have done without the breeze. All the Norskie children were in short-shorts and T-shirts most of the time, while Grandma and I huddled in as many coats as were available, and Arctic-quality duvets at night. Whatever happened to global warming...?

Old age would have been the greater factor! We've had "cold" many times before. One night in Shiraz in Iran fifty years ago stands out in my mind as the coldest we've ever been!
