A generalisation, but many of us still feel bitter about what has happend, In my case it has prevented me visiting children and grandchildren.

Selling nationalism as patriotism is common trick. Have a look what happened in USA, its not just UK.
Happened before in history and will happen again in future.

New rules and BREXIT. It May be possible once GHIC replaces EHIC but at the momemnt it all needs to be clarified. In any case COVID has put the kybosh on travel..

Scot, I have liked some of your comments but this is an extremely stupid thing to say. And most expats did not vote for Brexit. I did, but that's just me.

The quote is incomplete. It reads "once in a generation, unless there is a change in material circumstance."

That change has happened. In 2014 our imperial masters told us if we wanted to stay in the EU we would have to stay in the UK. We have now been dragged out of the EU although 62 percent of Scots voted to stay in the EU in the 2016 referndum.

There was no such caveat in 2014. It was only added during the 2015 General Election campaign when Sturgeon needed to downplay her desire for an immediate rerun but wanted to hedge her bets over Brexit.
