National insurance Number/pension
 

Hi there, having a question about NI Number/Pension, appreciate any advice, I have about 20 years of paying NI.number here. im planning to move to Sweden. My plan is carry on paying voluntary NI whilst living/working there ,but is that possible to pay for your national insurance number/ pension there and pay here in the UK at the same time ? Then what happened when you reach retirement age ,do you get your part pension from Sweden and another part from UK separately, or you need to transfer one of them to one of this 2 country, and receiving your pension one country?( I hope my Q.is clear), Many thanks for advice.

I would suggest paying Class 2 NI on a voluntary basis when overseas but Longbenton may give you other advice.

I am a British pensioner, living in Denmark for many years with my Danish family. Circumstances are the same.
When you reach pension age, you will be notified aromatically by the UK Pensions people. You can have the pension paid directly into a Swedish bank (much more convenient).
You will get the full British pension, tax deducted. Not sure about the Swedish standard rate, but here, where the tax is higher than that of the UK, I have to declare and pay the extra.
Unfortunately, the initial free amount, before tax is only that of the British , so I, and probably yourself, lose out a little on that.
I know the Swedish welfare benefits are very generous. As a permanent resident, you will be entitled to all.
