Moving to Denmark, cheapest way to move, HC, CPR and other questions

Hi all,
I am currently living in SouthEast London and am planning on moving to Copenhagen at the end of January to be with my Danish partner.

I was wondering how others here moved their things over and whether you have any recommendations in terms of shipping moving companies?

I am also pregnant (first trimester) and will need to ensure access to healthcare for antenatal care. I hear you need a cpr number for that which you only get when you have a job. I will start looking for a job asap but am unlikely to have found one before moving over? Any advice on how to get access to HC and the cpr number (do I need to wait 3months/ have a job before applying or can I do that straight away)?

Thank you all for reading!

Hello, FineFone.

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy!

I moved to Denmark in 2015 and was able to get my EU residency certificate by having my now husband vouch for me financially. I can't remember what it's called on the application.

To qualify, your partner needs to earn enough money to be financially responsible for you during your stay. If I recall, your partner will have to be able to designate at least 5000 kroner per month for you to qualify.

Your partner will need to prove their income and employment status by bringing bank statements and their contract of employment with you when you apply for your residency certificate. This is a quick way of becoming registered and getting your CPR without having a job.

I recommend you call Statsforvaltningen for clarification, though. It took a lot of digging for us to find out that I could stay in Denmark this way.

Good luck!

hi!

When it comes to moving you have a couple of options depending on how much you want to take, how quickly you need it all / how flexible you can be on dates and of course your budget. Are you looking at taking the majority of your belongings or only a few items?

There are some useful tools that might help you with planning your move and choosing a reputable company over on our Removals and Shipping forum too if that helps.

Kirsty :)
