Moving to Copenhagen

Moving to Copenhagen to be with my beautiful fiance next month. Any advise on company's to get jobs with only English. Looking at doing absolutely anything that comes up. Will be taking Danish lessons upon arrival. Have a degree in Health Sci, but that probably won't be useful until I can speak the language.

Looking forward to the big move, any other advise on the place would be much appreciated!

Can't be of much more help I'm afraid, like the rest of Scandinavia, I'm sure certain industries operate in English..and shipping industry is quite big in Denmark, see Maersk amongst others.

Good luck

Well, Danes leave school with a minimum of three languages, and there are quite a few companies operating in English.

With a Health Sci background Coloplast may be the place to go. They are world leading in plastic products for healthcare, and are based just north of Copenhagen. They have a wide range of jobs, from manual labour like packing plasters in packets, to researching the best anti-bacterial coatings for at stomia bag.

You could also search Danish job sites, many of which are available in English.

This thread has some suggestions about entry-level jobs, while learning the basics of the language. Eg. postman, cleaner, barman.

Learning Danish shouldn't be much hassle. Most basic English words are the same (I, am, here, have / jeg, er, her, har), the days of the week minus saturday are the same, anything related to life at sea is the same (ship, boat, knot, knob, rope, sail, anchor, wind / skib, båd, knob, knop, reb, sejl, anker, vind) and any new word is exactly the same (burger, computer, keyboard, internet).
