English Speaking Job in Sweden/Scandinavia

Hey all,

Im brand new to this site and I'm looking for as much advice as possible. This is my situation..

I am a 24 year old Englishman looking to work in Europe for a few months at least. I have a degree in Sports coaching and PE and experience in coaching throughout 3 international countries

When I move to Europe I dont necessarily need a sport job even though that would be amazing! Any job will do!

Im wondering what its like getting any kind of work in Sweden/Scandinavia? If any one of you know any one I can contact that would be great too!! Anything at all will help

Thanks so much

Alex

I think you need official permission to work in any of the nations there, and that takes some time to come through. My (English) son is a resident of Norway, yet couldn't work in Sweden without a whole lot of hoo-hah. As far as I can tell, you have to find an employer who will take you through the formalities.

If you have EU citizenship you can work freely in Sweden, Finland, Denmark . Norway is not in EU and it is a bit more difficult.

Not SO freely, Scot. My son (English) still had to get a "personal number" to work in Sweden, which took months.

You won't find employment in Sweden, given your criteria.

As stated, the bureaucracy found in Sweden means that you will spend all your savings while waiting for an answer. And given that even the national Swedish employment agency is sending many of its workers to other countries such as Norway. It Says a lot about the employment situation.

Depends who you know before you go, i go within 2 weeks to Denmark i can not speak Danish, and i have no qualifications whatsoever, but i know someone who can get me a job.

When you move talk to people and get to know people, it will open doors that seem impossible to open otherwise, and the official routes into employment are not the easiest way, actually knowing people already in work or owning their own business is much better.
