Are you in touch with UK prices?

A very short quiz (just 7 questions) about the cost of living in the UK. How up to date are you on costs?

I appear to be rather out of touch with these day to day items with a lousy 2/7 and the comment 'Butler do your shopping?' :o

Another Butler here - bit offended by that, but then again, it's been 18 years since I spent any considerable time in Blighty

Would it have been better if it said 'Maid do your shopping?' ;)

I wish - I am one who doesn't have one, and doesn't agree with it - by week I am working wife, on the weekend, am housewife.

well, even I got 3/7 and I'm pretty in touch with what things cost over there (besides, who buys stamps nowadays - especially individually?!)...

2/7. Got off to a flier with the first two correct, then rapidly downhill from there....

Guess I'm in for a shock then tomorrow - touch down in Blighty for a short two week break.Inshallah.

I was just wondering..why don't you agree with having a maid? I don't see anything wrong with it..helps them by giving them a job and helps me by not having to spend my spare time doing housework..works for both :-)

I'm with you on this Pats. I see having help in the house (& I don't have a live-in, but a regular cleaner) as little different to employing a secretary or admin assistant. It means I can focus on what I am best at and get free time at weekends (which I sorely need).

We all know there are those that take advantage, but most of us don't and are good employers. Is is some kind of reverse snobbery?

1/7 - tea was my saviour

FWIW, i agree that there does seem to be a reverse snobbery about having a maid/ cleaner. I'm all for giving someone the dignity of a job and wish there was some decent regulation for them here.
