Yngwie Malmsteen

He is described as the best rock guitarist in the world and will be appearing at this year's Dubai Rock Fest at Dubai World Trade Centre on 7th June. Until now I had never heard of him but would be willing to give him a chance, if he is as good as media reports suggest. Does anybody have any comments?

Think you have to pay for the tickets though?

Not heard of any one of the acts, will stick to Seaview, at least you know what you're going to get there.

He is always mentioned on 'best guitarist' lists. Never been able to make it all the way through 1 of his riffs.
He's a good technical guitarist but a great guitarist for me is one who creates melodius simple riffs that transforms a song.

Yes, I tend to agree. You can also enjoy a few bevvies. Doubtful that the DWTC would allow such frivolities.

Gigs usually have licensed bar at DWTC. Malmsteen is the epitome of rock guitar wanking... far too noodley, impressive yes, enjoyable, less so....

PS - That line up looks well dodgy... I don't predict this event is going to work too well...
