Yet More ID Propoganda

Its beginning to look like getting an ID card may not be such a bad idea. Once my wife and daughter get their UAE Residence Visa renewed next month, we will probably do the deed. Anyone here got theirs yet?

"All security and police authorities as well as police general departments and headquarters have been instructed not to provide these services to nationals or expatriates who do not have the Unified Multi-purpose ID."

Yeah right, I can see it now:

"I've just seen a multi-car pile up on the Emirates Road, can you send police and ambulance quickly?"

Emergency Service operator "Do you have an Emirates ID card and can you check that all those involved in the accident have an ID card..."

So if you don't have an ID card they can't touch you? :)

If you don't have it they will react the same way they used to when ppeople refused to get driving permits, passpports, etc.

Good luck finding the card Shiva, it can be a nightmare getting stuff done, never mind finding 'lost' cards.

We got ours in AD a few months back..for the whole family it took 1hour.

Wouldn't have bothered but my company sent out a directive...and indication that it could be expensed..
