Pertinent letter in 7days about peoples behaviour at parties...
7days
7days
I went to a corporate kids Christmas party at the weekend and the behaviour of some people there was disgusting.
It was a big, well-organised event with ample space and games for kids to run ‘riot’. Instead, the kids behaved like angels while the parents behaved like animals. When the buffet was opened it was like watching a pack of wild dogs attack. It was like people had never been fed before or were never going to eat again - and it wasn’t as if there was going to be a shortage as there was a huge variety of food on offer and the chefs were constantly replenishing the hot plates and bowls.
I just stood back and watched in shock at the scrummage for samosas and the fight for fish fingers. Inside the party hall, the fight for gifts was even worse. Every child at the party was accounted for, so even if you didn’t collect your gift it would be sent to you - nobody would miss out. That didn’t stop some parents pushing children out of the way and almost climbing over people to get the gift for their child - I'm surprised nobody was injured.
Seriously, what is wrong with you people? Says a lot about the world in which we live when children almost get crushed in the race for a plastic toy or a piece of chicken. Grow up and have some respect for others - and yourselves.
