Would you marry a man with a weird surname?
I suppose the answer is yes you just wouldn't change yours to his after the marriage Years ago I was nearly set up on a date with a guy called something B'stard, I refused to go I have no idea why I remembered this today

I had a good friend whose surname was Roast and I did my C.I.D attachment with bloke called Kettle!

we have a member of our family who was a Boyle but change to our family name, wonder why

I don't see that it matters? Women do not have to take their husband's surname on marriage. We do not have to be the possession of our husbands, after all Mrs Smith is just an abbreviation of Mistress of Smith.
Whilst I appreciate that I may be in a minority in this view (and no doubt seen as some sort of hairy-legged, man-hating feminist. Again! ) I do not understand why so many women change their own, perfectly good, name on marriage.

I have a friend who married someone with surname Nut. You may ask yourself thats an OK name. But her first name is Hazel

My cousin married a Beauglehole. She changed her name back to her maiden name when she divorced him but still has three children who suffer the huniliation of being called Trumpetarse.
