He had very little to do in this Timeline jobby - but I agree he's great. I just wish he would play a 'normal' role occasionally, instead of spending his entire career impersonating people (Brian Clough, Kenneth Williams, Tony Blair, David Frost, etc).

You know what you're getting with those films though.

Dumb & Dumber. I know the clue is in the title, but I just thought it was utterly stupid and not funny.

And Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. So very bad it was almost funny.

You see, I don't get this - I thought he was toe curlingly bad, it's like seeing people on tv pretending to be drunk, like Eastenders etc - whereas Elizabeth Shue was amazing.

he was in some of that vampire / werewolf films, 'Rise of the Lycans' etc.

Frost / Nixon was brilliant though.

Worst letdown: Event Horizon, but only because it seemed great when I saw it in the college cinema stoned completely out of my mind, and then tried to watch it sans drugs...

No I haven't (at least, not that I can recall), but you must agree that he is known primarily for his impersonations - mainly because he's brilliant at them.

Event Horizon? Is that the one on a remote space station, mainly featuring Joely Richardson's nipples?

I do agree and he has produced some incredible performances. He'll get an Oscar one day.

Look out for Unthinkable. Also stars Samuel L Jackson. A political thriller type of film that was actually quite shocking.

He is very good in Unthinkable, very good film and thought provoking.

Edit...just saw Meows comments.

There was certainly plenty of cleavage on show, along with lots of slow panning shots of space.

Can't imagine trying to follow Memento stoned, good grief. There can't be many films worse to watch stoned. (Actually, that could be a good topic one day...)
